This 4x2x2 reptile enclosure is in stock and ships the same business day when ordered before 1 PM. Same materials, same design, same hands — assembled and checked in the shop, then flat packed for safe shipping, exactly as every enclosure we build to order. The only difference is that this one is already finished.
Whether you are cultivating a lush bioactive ecosystem or designing an arid desert landscape, it delivers steady temperatures, a true end-to-end gradient and reliable humidity, with room to roam, climb and explore — in a furniture-grade enclosure that looks right at home in your living room.
What comes with your Ready Ship 4x2x2
- Steady heat, steady humidity. A solid top, so the enclosure holds temperature where you set it and humidity stays put. Most setups run lower wattage than they would in a glass tank.
- A frame that stays looking new. 3/4" HDPE, USA made and colored all the way through. It keeps its finish, resists fingerprints, and wipes clean with a dry paper towel.
- Doors that glide. The glass rides on its own track, quiet and smooth, and the track continues down the sides of the opening for a finished edge. Both doors lift and tilt out for cleaning.
- Glass you can trust. Two 1/4" sliding tempered safety doors with every edge polished, certified to ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Category II and etched to prove it — the more stringent of the two federal categories.
- Ventilation that moves with you. Four Adaptive Vents across the upper back panel. Every one takes a cover or a fan, so airflow changes as your setup changes through seasons and species. Covers and fans sold separately.
- Panels built for the climate inside. 1/2" American-made PVC on top, bottom, back and sides. Holds temperature steadily and stays true in heat and humidity.
- Wiring that stays tidy. Six cord slots in the top edge of the back panel for UVB, LED, heat and probe leads.
- Stacks without spacers. Two stainless steel dowels in our locking dowel system, which lines up across sizes so habitats, stands and hoods interconnect.
- A clean finish all round. Color-matched screw covers, so no screw heads show.
Choose your Ready Ship 4x2x2
What you see in the options above is what is finished and on the shelf. Pick the frame finish, body panel color and substrate dam height from the builds we have ready, and it leaves the same business day.
Other frame colors, a perforated aluminum screen top, side vents, lookout windows, climbing shelves, grommets, probe channels, custom cuts and the Executive upgrade are all chosen on the made-to-order 4x2x2, which runs on our standard lead time. See every option explained.
4x2x2 reptile enclosure specifications
Toad Ranch sizes are true-to-size exterior dimensions. A 4x2x2 measures exactly 48" x 24" x 24" on the outside, which is the number that matters when you are fitting it to a space.
| Dimensions | 48"L x 24"W x 24"H |
| Construction | PVC enclosure with a 3/4" HDPE front frame and 1/4" tempered glass doors |
| Floor space | 8 square feet |
| Volume | 16 cubic feet |
| Gallons | About 120 US gallons |
| Weight | About 69 lb, varying with options |
Species suited to a 4x2x2
Four feet of length creates a true temperature gradient and the room to use it. The distance between the warm end and the cool end allows your reptile to settle where it prefers through the day, and crossing that distance is what brings it out into the open — roaming, climbing, exploring, living as it would in the wild. That is where the best of keeping them happens. Eight square feet of floor for creating — bioactive setups, planted out builds, rocky outcrops. A climbing shelf adds a second level, extending how the enclosure can be used.
These species do especially well in it:
- Bearded dragons
- Blue tongue skinks
- Uromastyx
- Smaller monitors and other lizards that want horizontal space
- Ball pythons, corn snakes, kingsnakes and rosy boas
- Juvenile redtail boas
- Younger turtles and tortoises
- Toads and frogs
Growing into something bigger? Enclosures are expandable, so a 4x2x2 can become part of a larger build rather than something you replace.

Heating and lighting for a solid-top enclosure
A solid top helps maintain stable temperature and reliable humidity. Fit your own heating and lighting and the basking site goes exactly where you want it — and moves if your setup changes. Heating and lighting are sold separately.
A typical warm side
- Two heat fixtures side by side make one broad basking zone. Two lower-wattage bulbs work better than one hot point, and they can run at full output without pushing past your set point.
- 50W–100W basking bulbs, chosen for your species and your room temperature
- A deep heat projector for radiant warmth with no visible light
Lighting
- A 24"–36" UVB fixture, covering half to two thirds of the length. See Arcadia's lighting guide for the percentage your species needs
- An LED bar for daylight spectrum, and for plant growth in a bioactive build
Safety
Heating devices need care in any enclosure, whichever top panel you choose. Always pair heating with a thermostat and a probe, and use a wire safety basket on any fixture your animal can reach. If you would rather keep heat and light outside the enclosure entirely, we also stock a Ready Ship 4x2x2 with a screen top.
Assembly
One screwdriver, one screw size, no special tools. The front frame arrives pre-assembled with the glass track fitted; you fasten five panels to it. It goes back together at home the way it came apart here — same panels, same holes, same hardware.

Order before 1 PM and it leaves the same business day, flat packed and shipped UPS. Free shipping on enclosures, stands and hoods anywhere in the continental US — the listed price includes it. Limited-access and remote destinations are quoted separately.
